國語(yǔ)辭典六書(shū)之一。因無(wú)具體形象，故以象征性的符號來(lái)表示意義的造字方法。如上、下。漢．許慎〈說(shuō)文解字序〉：「指事者，視而可識，察而見(jiàn)意?！?/span>也稱(chēng)為「象事」、「處事」。
指出事物。南朝梁．鐘嶸〈詩(shī)品序〉：「五言居文辭之要，是眾作之有滋味者也，故云會(huì )于流俗。豈不以指事造形，窮情寫(xiě)物，最為詳切者邪？」
