國語(yǔ)辭典泛指各種主要的谷物。但五谷說(shuō)法不一，比較普通的說(shuō)法以稻、黍、稷、麥、菽為五谷。《孟子．滕文公上》：「后稷教民稼穡，樹(shù)藝五谷?！?/span>《西游記．第八回》：「世有五谷，盡能濟饑，為何吃人度日？」
