比自己早受業(yè)于同師門(mén)的人。《西游記．第一九回》：「又與行者拜了，以先進(jìn)者為兄，遂稱(chēng)行者為師兄?！?/span>《儒林外史．第二九回》：「次日，來(lái)道士到神樂(lè )觀(guān)尋他的師兄去了?！?/span>也稱(chēng)為「師哥」。
老師的兒子若年紀比自己大，稱(chēng)為「師兄」。也稱(chēng)為「師哥」。
